ChoreBuddy Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy for ChoreBuddy
Last updated: [May 14, 2026]This Privacy Policy describes how ChoreBuddy ("we," "our," or "the app") handles information when you use our mobile application. We've designed ChoreBuddy to collect as little information as possible, and nothing we collect is linked to your real-world identity.1. No Account Required
ChoreBuddy does not require you to sign up or create an account. We do not ask for, and do not collect:Your name, email address, or phone number
Your date of birth or any government ID
Your precise or coarse location
Your contacts, photos, or files
Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
Browsing or search history
Health, financial, or other sensitive information
Because we never ask for an identity, none of the data we do collect (described below) is linked to you personally.2. What We Collect
To make the app work across multiple devices in a household, we collect and store the following on our servers:a. User Content you enter in the appA short randomly-generated family code that links the devices in your household
Chore names, point values, schedules, and completion status
Reward names, point costs, and redemption history
Notes and bonus stars sent between parents and kids
Any kid nickname or avatar you choose
This content is visible only to devices paired with the same family code. Any name or nickname you type is your choice — we recommend using first names, nicknames, or made-up names rather than full legal names.b. Device push token (optional)If you grant notification permission, we store the push notification token issued by Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM) for your device, so we can deliver notifications such as "Mom sent you a note." You can revoke this at any time in your device's notification settings; revoking it stops notifications and we will stop using the token. That's the entire list. We do not collect analytics, crash reports, advertising identifiers, contact info, location, or any other category.3. How We Use What We Collect
We use the information solely to:Sync chores, rewards, notes, and progress between the devices in your family
Deliver push notifications you've opted into
Operate and maintain the app
We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, profiling, tracking across apps or websites, or analytics. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.4. Sharing With Third Parties
We do not share your information with third parties, except for the limited service providers required to run the app:Hosting and database — our servers and database are hosted on Replit, which stores the data described in Section 2.
Push notification delivery — Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) deliver notifications to your device. Only the push token and the notification content (e.g. "Mom sent you a note") are transmitted.
These providers process data only to operate the service.5. Children's Privacy
ChoreBuddy is designed to be used by families, including children, under parental supervision, and we follow a privacy-first approach consistent with COPPA, GDPR-K, and similar laws:No account or sign-up is required for anyone — adult or child.
We do not knowingly collect a child's real name, email, photo, location, or contact information.
Any nickname or avatar a child chooses is local to the family and is not shared outside the household's family code.
Parents can delete all data associated with their family at any time (see Section 7).
If you believe a child has provided us with information beyond what's described above, please contact us and we will delete it.6. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. The family code acts as the key to your household's data — please keep it private and only share it with people you trust.7. Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete your family's data at any time by contacting us at the email below and providing your family code. Upon request, we will permanently delete all chores, rewards, notes, nicknames, and device tokens associated with that family code.If a family code goes unused for 12 months, we may delete the associated data automatically.8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. EU, UK, California), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about your family, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email us at the address below with your family code.9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.10. Contact
